Robert Lins, M.D., Ph.D.
Managing Director Life Science Services Clinical Research

Robert is currently Managing Director of SGS Life Science Services Clinical Research. He is responsible for worldwide clinical research activities including Early Clinical Development, Global Clinical Development and Bioanalysis. He is also teaching as a Clinical Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Antwerp.
He started working as a nephrologist in a major teaching hospital in Belgium in the late seventies. In 1987 he set up a phase 1 unit in the Stuivenberg hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, that was acquired by SGS. Later on, he joined the management team of ZNA, the largest hospital network in Belgium He holds a Ph.D in Medical Sciences and is European Hypertension Specialist.

  Manfred Weiler, Ph.D.
Vice President Sales & Marketing
Manfred is currently VP Sales & Marketing for the Clinical Research Business Group, a position he held since 2007. He is responsible for international sales & marketing as well as strategy development for SGS’ Clinical Research Organization. He joined SGS in 2004 as Global Business Manager for SGS’ Life Science Services business unit with responsibilities for strategy, business development and marketing. Prior to joining SGS, Manfred has held various positions at Qiagen, a German Biotech company, including Sales, Product Management as well as Strategic Marketing Management. Manfred has a master in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology of the University of Bonn in Germany.

  Thierry Duvauchelle, M.D.
Vice President Early Clinical Development
Thierry is currently VP Early Clinical Development for the Clinical Research Business Group, a position he held since 2007. He is responsible for Early Clinical Development Operations for SGS’ Clinical Research Organization. He joined SGS in 2006 through the acquisition of Aster-Cephac by SGS. Prior to joining SGS, Thierry has held various positions at Aster-Cephac, a French CRO specialized in early clinical development, starting as clinical research physician, then investigator, clinical phase I unit director then C.E.O. Since 1991, Thierry was responsible for more than 1500 clinical pharmacological studies predominantly in the following areas: cardiovascular drugs, diuretics, anti-platelet aggregating agents, gastrointestinal drugs, central nervous system, infectious diseases, and metabolic diseases. The majority were first-in-human and PK/PD trials as well as standard regulatory trials (pivotal bioequivalence, thorough QT/QTc trials….). Thierry is a Medical Doctor, Paris XII Medicine University and has a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology of the University of Paris XI in France.

  Alain Renoux, Ph.D.
Vice President Bioanalysis
Alain is currently VP Bioanalysis for the Clinical Research Business Group, a position he held since 2007. He is responsible for the two bioanalytical laboratories located in Belgium and in France. He joined SGS in 2006 as director of SGS Cephac facility. He has more than 20 years of experience in bioanalytical assay development, low-level analysis of drugs and metabolites in complex biological matrices, biomarker analysis and in immunogenicity testing under GLP-certified environment. Prior to joining SGS, Alain has held various positions at Aster-Cephac, a French CRO company, as Study Director, head of mass spectrometry department and finally as director of the facility since 2003. Alain has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Poitiers in France.

  Luc Braeken
Vice President Global Clinical Development

Luc is currently VP Global Clinical Development, a position he held since 2007. He is responsible for the Global Clinical Development Operations for SGS’ Clinical Research Organization. He joined SGS in 2003 through the acquisition of Medisearch Int. by SGS. Luc was responsible as Head of Data Management within Medisearch and became Global Director Biometrics at SGS in 2004. Prior to joining the CRO business, Luc has held various positions at Janssen Pharmaceutica in Belgium. Luc has a degree in Computer Science from the Academy of Geel in Belgium.
